Andrew Blauschild is an American photographer from New York City. Blauschild has a variety of subjects for his photography works, with a strong focus on nature and its ever-changing environment. Currently living and working in the Springs, East Hampton, New York, Blauschild finds his inspiration from the natural landscapes, unexpected weather patterns and the individuals he has met along the way. Blauschild utilizes dye sublimation printing techniques that he learned while working with his mentor Charlie Griffin of Griffin editions. Dye sublimation is a unique printing process as it utilizes heat to transfer dye onto materials such as paper, fabric, plastic and in Blauschild’s case metal. Once the dye is heated it bleeds into the metal and once it cools the dye will stay in place. It is a fantastic printing process as it the prints are UV protected and very durable for homes dealing with different weather conditions. Blauschild has been part of group shows in Connecticut, Montauk, and the Hamptons, as well charity exhibitions for paddle8. Blauschild also is the creative director and photographer for his own surf company he founded in 2007, Kookbox Surfboards, which he started as a result of taking photographs of pro surfers. The company has since expanded and now includes collaborating and sponsoring other photographers, artists and painters to create handmade custom surfboards. Blauschild has a number of clients and collaborations he has been involved with, most notably Ralph Lauren, Oscar de la Renta, New York Times, and New York Observer.
