Anne Popperwell is a contemporary artist originally from the Bay Area in Northern California. Anne now resides on Saturna Island in the Southern Gulf Islands of British Columbia where she has been working as an artist for close to 30 years. Her work has been greatly influenced by the colors and rural, natural environment of Saturna Island. Anne seeks to share her joy and inspirations of the natural world through her landscape and floral paintings. She is highly skilled with both acrylic and watercolors, and uses a unique technique of painting multiple layers of thinly laid color washes, often working with as many as 50-60 layers, to create vibrant colors and a distinct sense of light. She has exhibited extensively throughout Canada, as well as internationally, having been part of exhibitions in Paris, Mexico, Seattle, and Germany. Her work is part of six public art collections, including the City of Vancouver and the Canada Council Art Bank, as well as being highly sought after for private collections.
