David Luksha is a visual artist based just outside of Vancouver, BC. In his current body of work, Luksha strips away the colour spectrum to focus entirely on raw, emotional gesture, deliberately avoiding the complexity of a full palette. This restrained approach serves as a visceral response to the psychological effects of sensory overload and the increasing polarization of modern discourse. Through intuitive markings, deep gouges, and expanses of flat negative space, he constructs an unstable visual language that reflects the unpredictable nature of his subjects.

Over the course of a distinguished career spanning more than four decades, Luksha has exhibited extensively throughout Canada and internationally. His work has been presented in solo exhibitions in Toronto, Montreal, Vancouver, Edmonton, and Brussels, as well as at prominent public institutions including the MacLaren Art Centre, The Art Gallery of Hamilton, Lambton Public Gallery, and the Justina Barnicke Gallery at the University of Toronto. His work is held in numerous public and corporate collections, including the Art Gallery of Peterborough, Hamilton City Hall, Polygram Records in New York, Steelcase Corporation, Sun Life Insurance Company, and Toronto Dominion Bank in London, England. Luksha studied at the Ontario College of Art, the Dundas Valley School of Art, and completed independent painting studies at the University of Guelph, building a practice that has made a lasting contribution to contemporary Canadian art.
